Awards
Seniors who will graduate in May or June 2010 from the
following high schools are eligible to receive scholarships:
- Firebaugh
- Kerman
- Mendota
- Tranquillity
Individual scholarship
amounts will vary by school.
Criteria
- Student will be attending
a four-year accredited college or university, a community
college or a vocational/technical school
- Cumulative minimum 2.8
GPA, if attending a 4-year institution, or cumulative
minimum 2.0 GPA if attending a community college or
vocational/technical school
- Personal essay (typed)
- (1) Recommendation letter
completed by a Teacher
- Demonstrate Financial
Need
- Participation in the
following Cal-SOAP activities is required:
- One Financial Aid
workshop or appointment (Jan/Feb)
- One Student Aid
Report workshop or appointment (March/April)
- One Loan Default
Prevention workshop (March/April)
- One Career assessment
workshop or appointment (March/April)
- One Study Skills
workshop (March/April)
- One Transfer workshop-
if attending a Community College (March/April)
Checklist for Application
& Required Attachments
- Completed application
form
- Personal essay (typed)
- High school transcript
including Fall 2009 semester senior grades
- One (1) recommendation
letter- completed by a Teacher
- Participate in the Cal-SOAP
Activities from the list above (Criteria #6). Attendance
will be tracked by Cal-SOAP Staff.

Scholarship Recipient
Requirements
- Attend Cal-SOAP orientation
in July 2010
- Enroll for a minimum
of 12 units in a four-year accredited college or university,
a community college, or a vocational/technical school
for four (4) semesters
- Meet with Cal-SOAP staff
or phone appointment for follow-up once a semester
for four (4) semesters.
